AXN Motor won't stop

If you didn't have to build it then you can talk about it here.

AXN Motor won't stop

Postby mthiel » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:53 am

Hi,

I am new to the hobby and just bought an AXN (PNF version). Everything is working ok accept that once I throttle up the motor, it will not completely stop when the stick position is at it's lowest position. I am using a DX6i radio. Is there something I need to do to get the motor to stop when the stick position is at low (zero). I can stop the motor if I hit the Throttle Cut button on the radio.

Is this normal behavior or am I missing something in my setup that needs adjusted?

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the ESC throttle limits adjustment is required.

How this is done may depend on your specific ESC, but from memory, you put your transmitter such that its on high throttle position, then turn on your Tx and then your Rx. The ESC will detect this as a request to setup the ESC and won't put the motor into "flat out" mode. Then you pull the throttle down through its full range. Then disconnect.

When you next connect up, it should have been set to recognise what is wide open throttle as well as zero throttle - and hence act accordingly.

Perhaps if you let everyone know what specific ESC you're using, we can provide the setup/install instructions. I know i have the instructions for the stock ESC that comes with the AXN.

Hope that helps.

I checked my current ESC set and found the following:

My Throttle response (5th beep group) is set to "Quick Speed". Would that make the motor continue to run even after I lower the throttle to zero? Or is there something else I should be looking at in my Radio setup possibly?

My other settings are:

Brake Status = Disabled (1 beep)
Electronic Timing = Mid Timing (2 beeps)
Battery Protection Cutoff = Middle cutoff (2 beeps)
Aircraft Status = Normal airplane (1 beep)
Throttle response = Quick speed (3 beeps)

Thanks,
mthiel

No quick speed refers to how quickly the throttle response will follow your stick movement.
It sounds as though you need to adjust the sub trim to stop the motor see the book that comes with the dx6i on how to do this.
Also not knowing how much of a beginner you are pardon me if I'm insulting you you have tried the throttle trims?
Also check the transmitter is not being used in the heli mode this would introduce the throttle curve, which would cause complications.

NO offense taken Bill. I am very green. I have a small amount of heli experience and have messed with the trims before. I definitely have the transmitter set to plane mode. I will check it out. Thanks for the response.
