Postby Graemeas » Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:46 am

Hello everyone that knows more then me :-)

I am trying to locate some information on the conversion of the Hitec Flash 5x to 2.4ghz. I recently purchased and and am awaiting its arrivale a FrSky SHT 8Ch module and the D8R reciever. Has anyone converted the flash 5x over to 2.4ghz?

looking forward to hearing how its done.

Here we go again!

1. if it has a trainer port chances are good
2. if it has a transmit module chances are good
3. if you have electronics experience chances are good

PPM signal is what you are looking for, power is easy to find.

Thanks

I noticed you said to check for power. In that case am I then right in thinking that the buddy transmitter will get its power from the instructor's tx?

Here we go Graemeas, You can get the Frsky 2.4 DIY kit from HK (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... dule_.html) And it's a piece of cake.... Thanks for starting this thread and inspiring me... Be good to get it back in action instead of just simulator use...

power is sometimes used for buddy TX, sometimes to switch on the buddy TX, sometimes for DSC (direct servo control, common before 2.4GHz so that you could cable your tx to your plane without using a radio control channel) DSC wold power the receiver and servos

Received the DIY kit for the 2.4 yesterday... Finished installing it in the Hitec Flash 5 today and works great... One little problem was I tried binding the 4 channel receiver and it did not work... The button you have to hold down is inside the case so I used a screwdriver to hold it... Trouble is you got to plug in power to it then, unless you got a Rx switch setup... I found the best way was to put a spring clip over the button leaving two hands free... You will still see the red light but further in is a green light as well, your bound...

Set up the Hitec Flash 5 (2.4Ghz) in a model today... Too windy to fly so I thought for a change I would do a range check... Switched over to low transmission and started off down the driveway... 28, 29, 30 metres... Could hear the servos so must still be working... Crossed over the road but could not hear them... I know I'll tweak the throttle and see if it moves... Nothing happening, just a little more, a little more... Vroooom...yeah it moved so I got at least 38 metres.... Now how am I going to get it out from under the car...?
