Lipo batteries in Optic 6 Transmitter

I have searched the internet and have yet to come up with a definitive answer.

Can I use a fully charged, standard, 3s Lipoly battery in an Optic 6 transmitter without modification of circuit board or addition of diodes?
Will the voltage regulator burn out over time?
Has anyone done an actual test and what were the results?

Thanks

You would probably get away with it but a better option would be the LiFe batteries I mention in my latest "Weekly News" video.

They have a voltage of 9.9V which makes them *perfect* for transmitter use and they're also a lot less inclined to fail if you accidentally leave the radio on. They're also a lot safer - I've never heard of an LiFe pack going supernova in the way that lipos can do.

I use one of the LiFe packs (Turnigy 1500mah) with my Optic 6, and have a followup question..

Is it safe to use the Tx charge plug to charge LiFe batteries while in the Tx? Or do I need to take the batteries out and charge them on my normal charger?

I've been using Hobby King lipos in my transmitters for 2 seasons, and they have been working quite well. :D

Best to remove battery as per:
Hitec Aurora, Eclipse, Flash, Optic & Prism series TX - Lipo and Field / Fast Charging

With regard to use of Lipo batteries in Hitec transmitters - do not do it without a regulator as per:
. Batteries_Lithium Polymer - Do Not Use 3S Lipo in Transmitters
