PCB Manufacturer Information?

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

PCB Manufacturer Information?

Postby Bill » Mon Jan 06, 2014 6:34 pm

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have been looking at ExpressPCB.com,
Has anyone here used them as a source of small pcb orders?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
I've used them and they give you what they say they will. 3 boards that must be 2.5 x 3.8" for $51.

I've sent a couple of designs to OSHPark and they are much cheaper. You get soldermask front and back. Legends Front and back.
What I didn't get is "Finished edges" on the boards, (i.e., they were snapped from the panel and shipped.)
They also did not plate the board. Bare copper lands, no nickle or solder.

For the price, I don''t think you can beat OSHPark.

Bill,
I forgot to mention that OSHPark does not turn your boards around like ExpressPCB. It can take a couple of weeks to get your boards back but, I'm still going to use them.

Thanks Ray!

I have also been looking at OSHPark, along with the $33 boards from 4pcb.com
Right now I am still tweaking the design and breadboarding the circuit.
The schematic has grown as I add new functions and accessories.
I currently have laid out two PCBs that are 5.5" by 4" using KiCAD, that I will hopefully soon need to prototype.
They will be two sided, SMD boards.
I appreciate your input, as I thought I was not going to get any responses.... LOL
Any other inputs would be great!!

Thanks again,
Bill

Bill,
Just out of curiosity, what are you making?
you can put a lot of stuff on a 4x5 board and it would take a pretty large plane for it to fit into.
