Sniffing/scanning 2.4GHz frequency

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Sniffing/scanning 2.4GHz frequency

Postby Hyperc » Fri Jun 10, 2016 3:13 pm

Hi all,

I'm doing research in the detection of drones using RF. I've been searching around the web for a way to scan the 2.4GHz spectrum, but I can only find devices showing the 'activity' in graph-form. I need to be able to read the data, decode it in some way, and be able to identify the drone. Is this possible, and what hardware/software would I need?
Lets say I want to detect a Phantom 2/3.

I know it's a farfetched question, but I'm just wondering if it's possible :)

Thanks in advance!
