JR PCM 9 Single Stick 2.4 conversion

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

JR PCM 9 Single Stick 2.4 conversion

Postby fby002 » Wed Nov 10, 2010 5:28 pm

Does any one know if it possible to convert a JR PCM 9 single Stick radio to 2.4. This radio has a removable module but says PCM only with no way to enable PPM. Single Stick Radios are getting harder to find and this one is in great shape. I would just like to update it to 2.4. My choice would be Frsky, Assan, Corna. When contacting JR (Horizon) they said nothing was planed nor could they one off it for me. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's PCM-only then you're out of luck.

All the available 2.4GHz modules and DIY boards require a PPM data-stream.

Thanks, I was hoping there was a way to add a PPM data stream to it. It is PCM 512 only.

Pull the guts and go for A MicroStar 2000 encoder. It smokes almost everything on the market and is a fine project if you are reasonably good with a soldering gun. Gordon's site has all the info on how to get going including a link to Kee's kits.
