Video camera for your model

I noticed that the resolution seemed awfully low in the video samples that have already been posted to YT (everything is kind of of soft and fuzzy). They also show the typical CMOS camera traits of too much auto-iris control -- as soon as you get half a frame of sky, the ground goes very dark and if an object is too bright (such as the sun) the very white becomes very black.

Still, forget the quality -- feel the width! It's a *very* cheap camera.

Well I dropped in to Tokoroa airfield on Sunday, and gave Bruce my little camera to review. I'm not that impressed with it, not really suited to what we do with models. Would probably work well as a camera attached to a pole for a fixed focus fixed position etc. I noticed that the video I did wasn't too bad after the model landed etc. Might be a poor quality camera card, but not known if this is the case.

Yep, it looks as if the slow cards really play havoc with these cameras -- dropped/duplicated frames.

I'll see if I can get ahold of a faster card and try it with that.

I have one of these 808 key chain cams and i'm happy
with it as i have seen how good/bad they can be on
youtube so i wasn't expecting HD quality for the price
i paid so people can't really knock this cam when they
buy one as the price is a bit of a give away ;)
but i don't want to put a £150 worth of HD cam on
any of my planes so this little 808 cam does the job
i need it for :) oh hakank any chance you posting
a link for the cam you got for $10 shipped worldwide
please mate as thats a small saving on my one,
which i paid £11 for next day shipping ;) but it
would still be handy having the link to your one mate
as i could do with a back up one.

This is the one I bought:

720p camera

but this same seller also offers them with a TF card of 8GB or so for a reasonable price.

Bought one of these keychain cameras from ebay but never received it (different seller). After this experience I decided to treat myself to something better and ordered this http://replayxd.com/replay-xd1080-camera/ one.

Received it yesterday and totally happy with it. Obviously plays in a different league than the 808 key chain cams but I think it was worth the additional expense. Can't wait to put it on my FPV plane :geek:

Video Date Time Stamp Removal.
Just bought one from HobbyKing. After several flight videos I am happy with the Videos but the date and time stamp is annoing me.
I want to remove it. How is that done?
English is not my native langiue. Where can I get simple instructions on how to remove the date and time.

Hello kpv,

This can be difficult or impossible with the 808 camera. First you need to identify the model number, this site will help.

Lots of information on this site, still not a guarantee of success. You may have to revert to a video editor to balnk out the date.
