AXN model for Real Flight or Phoneix

Hi All,

Does anyone know where i can lay my hands on a model of the AXN for use with either Real Flight 5.5 or Phoneix 3.x?

I know the easy star is there, but its 3 channels makes it behave very differently to the AXN in reality.

Any suggestions anyone?

I respectfully submit that the cost of an AXN would be less than the time to develop the model for a simulator. Fly any powered glider or high wing (like the Cessna 182) and you will learn the important aspects of orientation and basic reactions to different situations, then go to a large field and fly baby...

Hi HM,

I've got 20+ flights up on my AXN and still going strong - no worries there - loving it. However the difference in flight characteristics between an easystar and the AXN (given the lack of ailerons) was too significant for the simulation to continue proving wortwhile. Yes it was great with any model to provide orientation lessons and general flight control experience - but wasn't close enough for my liking.

The problem was solved anyway - i found there as a Phoneix model that someone had developed on RCG that put ailerons on the easystar - that behaves VERY much like the AXN does. It's not 100% the same - but i won't quibble over the difference now.

In my opinion it was worth the time and effort to find it.

I'm still a newbie - but i find i'll still spend at least as much time in front of the simulator as i do at the field (admittedly i get 7 nights to use the simulator and 1 morning at the field). I think it's helped immensley. Left/Right circuits, Figure 8's, reverse figure 8's, loops, rolls all nailed and landings feel super comfortable, no damage sustained as yet (famous last words i know).

If anyone wants the Phoneix model for easystar with ailerons, let me know and i'll find out how to extract it.

There is in Phoenix a pusher glider that looks somewhat like the AXN.
i have an AXN also, i use the Phoenix model to practice.

The above text should be copied into a file that sits in the My Documents/PhoenixRC/Variants/fixedWing directory. Mine is called easystar_AXN-Floater2.pxv

The specific steps i followed were:
1. Use Phoenix model editor to create an easy star variant (i called it easystar_AXN-Floater2)
2. Edit the .pxv file located in the variants/fixedWing directory with your favorite text editor
3. Add the following section to the end of the file

A big thanks pldb64 :ugeek: , I just created the variant in Phoenix, opened the .pxv file (with note pad) replaced the contents with yours and bingo :o it worked a treat.
I did skip steps 3 & 4, ;) , as I couldn't see a difference between the main file and the addon :? .
It took all of 5 minutes.

Huge thanks to all for taking time and effort to share. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I'm a complete RC virgin, I don't own a single bit of RC kit. As a kid I had a blue and yellow plastic PT Trainer control line model ... Just found part of it in a box in the loft. (can't upload pic, forum limit reached???)

I was more fascinated by the beautiful 0.049 cu in Babe Bee motor than spinning round in circle till I got dizzy. Babe Bee still in great condition, should try to get some fuel and fire her up, just for fun. Bought her second hand in 1979. Real RC was only for the rich kids.

Now I'm going to try a simulator and see if I have what it takes to be a pilot. If I can cut it I'm thinking of getting an AXN.
