Lazy bee

Behold my latest flying wonder,the lazy bee:


5mm foam board fuse,wing foam ribs,cedar and balsa spars.AUW 1kg(20 oz. odd)
Turnigy 2830 outrunner,30A HK esc,1300/1800 Mah Li-Po 3cell.
Maiden flight tomorrow,weather permitting.

Very, very cute! The nose reminds me of a bat for for some reason.

Maiden flight was very short,due to windy weather.appeared to stall,then made a bee-line(he he he)for the ground:(Broke motor mount.Tried again this week,and found the motor to be too small.
Another HK order coming up.

How many watts are you pulling? it should fly anywhere from 250 to 600 (40" wing)
I see a Speedy Bee in my future

I have the plan for the Speedy Bee too.it's on the list.
I"m not really too familiar with electric motor sizes.This is my 1st electric plane ,so it's all a learning curve.I was given the 2830,so that's what i used.Maybe I need to go down in prop size a bit(currently 10x5).

AFAIK a lazy bee will fly with a wide range of engines and motors, .049 to .25 glow, 250W to 600W brushed and brushless

I've just checked @HK,the motor I had in it only gives 180w max,assuming the correct prop etc.It's also meant for 500-800g planes,so at 1kg,i'm about 20% over .
My mate has a few more motors coming,so he'll let me try a couple of different ones.That should sort it.

From various forums it appears global are not interested anymore,they have nothing to sell in the clancy line.A crying shame really.

After a few "arrivals",I've finally got the Bee sorted.Turns out I had the CG too far back.
It's now powered by a Hobbyking"donkey"motor.with an 1800 lipo,i get about 6 -8minutes flights.Yoohoo
