nothing broke
it stuck in the mud like a lawn dart

Those GoPro HDs are pretty tough. Had a guy in our club who flew his without the waterproof plastic outer case and smacked it - he broke the lens but was able to buy a replacement (not from GoPro) which had the bonus of not being as wide-angle thus reducing the "bendy horizon" issue.
